Recent conversations regarding the future of I-70 may eventually lead to tolls between C-470 and resort areas including Summit County, Vail, and Winter Park. Traffic congestion on I-70 is a continuing problem during both Winter and Summer, especially on weekends and holidays. Drives that should only take an hour and a half in good weather now routinely take twice as long.
This may be great news for Crested Butte. As drives become longer and more expensive to the front range resorts, alternatives like Crested Butte will shine more and more in comparison.
