2019 is off to a good start in Crested Butte real estate. There were 35 transactions totaling $17.8 Million, a significant increase compared to last year, with 24 sales at $8.2 Million. A number of these transactions also involved commercial property.
In the early days, Ali would barely be open during the winters, but today she stays open thanks to fat bikes. Fat bikes have caught on in the past few years, and today many visitors come to Crested Butte and spend a day trying them for the first time on a ski vacation- or they come here specifically to fat bike, which was the case for many visitors during last week’s annual Fat Bike World Championships.

The Elk Mountain Grand Traverse is an even bigger event, drawing competitors from around the world to ski the 40 miles from Crested Butte to Aspen. Pat pioneered the course, has competed every year (finishing all but one time), and won the event as well. Not bad for a full-time teacher!
Limited inventory continues to be a major factor in the Crested Butte area. Currently, for instance, there are 186 residential properties on the market, compared to just over 300 at the same time last year. And even last year, that inventory would be considered quite low.
