One of the greatest assets of the Crested Butte and Gunnison area is Western State Colorado University. Founded in 1901 as an institution for teachers, the school now boasts a wide variety of liberal arts majors. Given its location in an area with a wide array of recreational activities, majors include Outdoor Education and Resort Management.
