Crested Butte Mountain resort has 15 lifts covering over 1,500 acres of skiable terrain with a vertical drop of roughly 3,000′. Those are the facts but they don’t tell the story of Crested Butte skiing. Crested Butte is justifiably known for it’s steep terrain- some of the most challenging in North America and certainly in Colorado. Coupled with that steep terrain, however, are blissfully uncrowded intermediate and beginner slopes. Finding a liftline in Crested Butte is almost as challenging a task as skiing the steeps, especially compared to places like Summit County and Vail on a weekend or holiday. Another great feature of Crested Butte is its predominantly North facing terrain, which keeps the snow in great shape compared to other Colorado ski areas.
The big news for the 2013-14 season is the new season pass pricing structure, a bargain at $599. The trails near the East River chairlift are currently being gladed, while upgrades to both the Ten Peaks and Paradise Warming houses are underway as well. As a former ski ambassador for Crested Butte Mountain Resort, I am quite familiar with our ski area and would be happy to show you around.
