Skyland is Crested Butte’s golf community, located roughly 3 miles south of town off highway 135. The Robert Trent Jones Jr designed course is understandably the centerpiece, but don’t forget the swimming, tennis courts, restaurant, and gym at The Club at Crested Butte. Membership at the country club is optional and they have different plans available. Fishing is a homeowner amenity available right out the door, along with hiking, biking, and cross country skiing in the beautiful Brush Creek Valley. Some of the best vistas in the entire East River Valley are from Skyland, with protected views (thanks to the golf course) towards Whetstone Mountain, Mount Emmons, Paradise Divide, and the steep south side of Crested Butte Mountain. The area is so beautiful, in fact, that it’s the area my wife and I chose for our wedding. The Skyland area has strict guidelines for building, resulting in a well-kept and attractive subdivision. Before this area was subdivided, it was a summer camp many decades ago. In addition to the Skyland subdivision, there are smaller subdivisions in the area, such as Silver Sage and River Green which are included in the listings below.
Great deals can still be found on vacant land in Skyland, as well as condos, townhomes, and single family homes. Skyland is a great place to find a Crested Butte luxury home. Town is a short bike ride, cross country ski, or drive away, while Crested Butte Mountain Resort can be reached in ten minutes.
