Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory

Blog

The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) was founded in 1928 to study the high mountain ecosystems that surround the former mining town of Gothic, not far from Crested Butte. RMBL offers a number of educational programs for the public at large, not just the scientists that call Gothic home every summer. Kid’s Nature Camp runs mid-June through mid-August, every weekday from 8:30am-1:30pm, which pairs kids with the actual scientists conducting research in the area. A similar program for the Adults are the Adult Science Tours (again, mid-June through mid-August) every Thursday from 9am-1pm. The new Weldon and Rosalie Weekley Visitor’s Center is open throughout the summer season and offers daily tours of Gothic. For more information, please visit RMBL’s website.
